I keep a first aid kit in my car. If we go hiking then I put it in one of the dogs backpacks if we are going to be gone for a few hours. It is actually 99% put together with the dogs in mind. The only thing I actually put in for myself is band-aids! Though, I can use everything in it for myself.
I’m just telling you what I have in my kit. I won’t be giving dosing advice. You should contact your vet before using anything.
What's in my kit?
- Gauze
- Tweezers
- Medical Scissors
- Vet Wrap
- Triple Layer Non-Stick Pads
- Pads (Feminine products, amazingly absorbent)
- Syringe
- Tourniquet
- Small Water Bottle
- Dog Booties
- Slip Leash
- Fabric Muzzle
- Sharpie ( To write the time the tourniquet is applied)
- Celox (Clots blood)
- Peroxide
- Saline Solution
- Neosporin
- Benadryl (Pill and creme)
- Triple Antibiotic Ointment
- Vaseline
- Medicated Ear Cleaning Solution (From the Vet)
- Dramamine (Motion Sickness, Tablets)
- Arnica Montana (Pellets)
- Activated Charcoal
- GasX (Extra Strength)
Most of these things will hopefully never be used, but I like to be prepared for the worst. I will be adding a emergency harness so I can carry my largest dog more comfortably. Just in case. Better safe than sorry!
Stay safe and have fun with your dog!
