FAQ and info
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started?
The first step is to fill out our questionnaire. We will then contact you to schedule an in person consult to go over all of your dog’s behavior and figure out which program is needed to reach your goals.
How much does training cost?
Price is based on a few different factors, like your dog’s personality, what issues you’re having with them, and how much training you want/need. It is an investment for your family and dog(s) future! Price ranges are listed on our program pages.
What are private lessons?
Our private lesson programs are designed to teach you how to train your dog. You’re bonding with and learning with your dog with the help of our expertise. Lessons are one hour long and usually done weekly. Your program would be totally customized to you and your dog. They can be done at your home or at pubic locations.
What is a board and train program?
This program is where your dog stays with us and we do most of the training. You are involved in the process still, because our board and train is Monday-Friday. Your dog would be with us learning through the week. On Friday, you come for a lesson to learn how to do what we taught this week. They go home with you for the weekend. This allows you to see your dog and work with them throughout the program.
Does my dog need anything from the Vet prior to training?
For our board and train programs, we will need copies of vaccination records (rabies, bordetella, canine distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis AND lepto), proof of Heartworm and flea medication, and a negative fecal for Giardia and Coccidia (you must tell them to check for both of these) within two weeks of your dog’s drop off date. For private lesson programs we will need records of those vaccines and proof of heartworm and flea medication.
Should I have my dog groomed prior to dropping them off?
If you have a Poodle mix or a dog of a similar coat type, then yes, your dog will need to be groomed prior to the start of training. Length must be 1/2 inch or shorter on the whole body. If you have a long coat breed, it must be free of mats.
What are your training methods?
I utilize positive reinforcement (treats, petting, toys) to teach new behaviors, and once the dog shows that they understand what I’m asking, I use corrections via voice or training collars to enforce commands and behaviors.
Can I come to see my dog while he is staying with you?
Yes! Our programs are Monday-Friday. You will come for a lesson every Friday and take your dog home for the weekend!
What is your satisfaction guarantee?
We offer a satisfaction guarantee! We assume you are looking for a trainer because you are willing to do the training required to succeed. We stand behind our training, and you should have peace of mind knowing that your investment in training will work.
